Cleansing with Color!

One thing I've really loved throughout the past two weeks or so has been the variety of colors we've gotten to enjoy and munch on. It really has been a very colorful cleanse!

Below are some close-ups of some of the vibrant colors we've had in our meals. I had to leave out a lot, just for lack of space (avocados, limes, bell peppers, herbs, carrots, turnips, parsnips, etc.) but you get the picture!

pictured: roasted garlic & beet soup, salmon, sweet potato, swirled soups, butternut squash apple soup, lemons on haddock, spinach, blackberries, and red cabbage

Even our tea has been colorful!
FYI: Celestial Seasonings' "True Blueberry" Tea smells like fresh blueberry pie when it's steeping...mmm!

Here's another mash-up:

funny color story happened last week. We had already made the Butternut Squash Soup and the Beet Soup the previous week, and we were so in love with the colors, that we decided that we HAD to make them again, and swirl them together!
So we did. We brought a bowl of each for dinner at school on Tuesday, and mixed half of each into the cafeteria bowls! It was so much fun, and the range of colors that were created were pretty impressive.
Whoever said that you shouldn't play with your food must never have tried it before!
Mikes:
Mine (it started out ok, but didn't look as cool as Mikes!):

I will post soon about how the second week went, and how the third week is going so far, but I wanted to get this one out because I've been wanting to for a while! =) Enjoy the snow, and try some new and colorful foods!
